From the Vancouver Fashion Week Website -
Fashion has always been part of my life. As a young child growing up in Lebanon, I was always amused with the idea of one expression there emotions through their wardrobe. This idea became apparent to me as I started to dig a little further into my personal life. Over time, I realised how my upbringing shaped me into the person who I am today.

My journey began in my home country, Lebanon, a culture filled with history. As a teenager I wanted to pursue a career which I believed was a path that made me realise my true passion. In university I started learning psychology which eventually led me to finish my studies and I received a bachelor's degree. Psychology really helped me in learning one's emotions, behavioural patterns and human fulfilment. Later on, after I moved to Canada, I decided to join a fashion design course at Blanche Macdonald school. My graduation collection was inspired by women and nature’s harmony. I wanted to express feminine beauty throughout structure, combined with empathy and power and the competition of insecurity with confidence and knowledge.

Please share a bit about your journey to embrace fashion design as a career.

Fashion has always been part of my life. As a young child growing up in Lebanon, I was always amused with the idea of one expression there emotions through their wardrobe. This idea became apparent to me as I started to dig a little further into my personal life. Over time I realized how my upbringing shaped me into the person who I'm today.

How did you learn your skills?

In university I started learning psychology which eventually led me to finish my studies and received a bachelor's degree. Psychology really helped me in learning one's emotions, behavioral patterns and human fulfilment.

Later on, after I moved to Canada, I Decided to join a fashion design course at Blanche Macdonald school.

Who are you as a designer? Aesthetic? Customer? Brand?

I wanted to express feminine beauty throughout structure, with the combination of empathy and power. The competition of insecurity with confidence and knowledge.

My design esthetic, therefore, is powerful yet sensual. Women’s two opposite side, but still complimenting each other.

Therefore my designs will create a feeling in you as you wear them! Maybe they will lift you up into a different mood.

What comes easiest for you as a designer? What is hardest?

The easiest for me as a designer is inspiration and ideas. They are fun and satisfying. Inspiration always comes with excitement and happiness. The hardest part for me now is when I start working and breaking down these ideas into patterns, construction and keeping up the time-line.

Where do you find inspiration for new collections? How important is colour to your design process?

I'm pretty much inspired by fabric movements and manipulations, by nature, the ocean, songs, memories, art, and the contrast between draping and tailoring. I am also inspired by the combination between sheath and exaggerated bouffant silhouette.

The colours are everything for me! They are where my inspiration starts,  along with the fabric texture!
