Thank You Maya
Three short words shared
Bring a rise of emotions
A wave of hope washes over me
I stretch a bit taller.
Her title opens the door.
Then a triad of repeats,
And several shorter echoes,
Bring home this truth.
I wonder if Maya,
When she penned this poem,
Sensed the power unleashed.
The comfort her words would offer.
Waves of change may challenge.
Hard trials overwhelm.
Friends turn into enemies.
Society try to stifle my spirit.
But hard times will not steal my light.
My spirit can not be held down.
Truth will walk by my side.
Those I love appear to uplift me.
Still I Rise
Like dust, I'll rise
Still I'll Rise
Like air, I’ll rise.
