This first collection ready-to-wear is part of a minimalist aesthetic that seeks to deepen a style that is more refined than bohemian. Each piece embodies lightness and simplicity, while being embellished with couture details that add a touch of elegance and sophistication in a universe where soft colors evoke a timeless romance.

Pease share a bit about your journey to embrace fashion design as a career.

My professional journey has been an exciting one, marked by a transition from a career in early childhood to my true passion: designing wedding dresses. After ten years in the early childhood sector, I made the decision to pursue my dream of becoming a wedding dress designer. This decision was inspired by my own chaotic search for my wedding gown, where I realized the need for simple, elegant, and high-quality attire. Thus, Maison Robélie was born.

I strive to create custom-made, minimalist, and modern dresses, drawing inspiration from French Haute Couture. My goal is to offer brides-to-be the opportunity to personalize their dream gown and celebrate their special day in an outfit that enhances their beauty.

How did you learn your skills?

I acquired my skills through a combination of self-teaching and formal education in design. My journey began with a strong interest in crafting and sewing, which I explored from a young age. I was fortunate to have learned the basics of sewing from my grandmother, who instilled in me a love for handmade creations.

As I pursued my passion for design, I decided to further my knowledge by enrolling in design-related courses and workshops. These educational experiences provided me with a solid foundation in design principles, allowing me to refine my craft and develop my unique style.

Overall, my journey has been a blend of self-teaching, hands-on experience, and formal design education, all of which have contributed to my growth as a designer at Maison Robélie.

Who are you as a designer? Aesthetic? Customer? Brand?

As a designer, I am someone who is deeply passionate about creating beautiful and authentic bridal attire. My aesthetic is characterized by a focus on minimalism, modernity, and timeless elegance. I strive to design dresses that allow brides to shine in their own unique way, without overwhelming them with excessive embellishments or details.

My primary focus is on the customer – the bride. I believe that every bride deserves a wedding dress that truly reflects her personality and style. That's why I offer made-to-measure options to ensure that each gown fits perfectly and is a reflection of the bride's individuality.

As a brand, Maison Robélie is committed to providing high-quality, locally-made wedding dresses that are both accessible and sustainable. We aim to create a personalized and memorable experience for each bride, helping them bring their wedding dress dreams to life.

What comes easiest for you as a designer? What is hardest?

As a designer, what comes easiest to me is capturing the essence of simplicity and timelessness in my bridal designs. I find joy in creating minimalistic yet modern pieces that emphasize natural beauty.

On the other hand, the most challenging aspect is ensuring that every dress I design perfectly matches the vision and expectations of each bride. Achieving a balance between individuality and elegance can sometimes be a demanding process, but it's also incredibly rewarding when I see a bride feeling confident and beautiful in her customized gown.

Where do you find inspiration for new collections? How important is colour to your design process?

My design philosophy draws inspiration from a diverse array of elements. I'm inspired by the unique characteristics of the materials I work with, whether it's their fluidity, transparency, or the delicate intricacies of lace and embroidered tulle. The natural world is another significant wellspring of creativity for me, as is the vibrant tapestry of modern life and contemporary culture. My designs are deeply rooted in the pursuit of comfort, recognizing the importance of this criterion for my clients.

Furthermore, I'm captivated by the elegant silhouettes of the 1920s and 1930s, as well as the enduring legacy of French haute couture. This fusion of influences results in designs that are a blend of timelessness and modernity.

When it comes to color, I explore a spectrum of ivories, encompassing shades like off-white, ivory, cream, and champagne, though pure white is a rarity in my collections. I also enjoy introducing subtle, natural dyes into my work, such as the delicate pink from avocado and soft blue from black beans. These choices reflect my commitment to an eco-conscious and sustainable approach to fashion.

"EDEN" draws its inspiration from the natural world, specifically the serene beauty found in nature's simplicity.

The collection features a range of ready-to-wear designs that offer timeless elegance with a contemporary twist. Each piece in the collection embodies the essence of minimalism, with clean lines and understated detailing. Do you have a favorite look in this collection?

Ooh! the question is difficult! I took a lot of time for each model to be perfect but if I had to choose one, it would be the last model that will show the Calliope overalls.

Where can readers purchase your designs?

On the online store of my website and very soon in various bridal boutiques in Canada.

What's next for you as a designer and your brand?

The next steps for Maison Robélie involve introducing our brand to a broader audience across Canada by offering our ready-to-wear designs in bridal boutiques. This expansion will enable more brides to experience the essence of Maison Robélie and find the perfect wedding attire that resonates with their style and preferences.

In closing is there anything else you'd like to share with readers?
