Please share a bit about your journey to embrace fashion design as a career.

Since childhood, I have been interested in transmitting my emotions through clothes. I was always drawing what was in my mind. I also grew up watching my mother sew. My passion for fashion grew until I decided that fashion would be my life without a doubt.

How did you learn your skills?

I studied fashion & marketing design at Central Saint Martins University ( London ). I learned how to create my own prints by myself.

Who are you as a designer? Aesthetic? Customer? Brand?

Fashions-HelenLópez-LENIFRO
As a designer I am a person passionate about art in all its forms, although music and the 80s & 90s eras are my greatest inspirations. Diversity and inclusivity are the most important premises of LENIFRO.

Passionate about volumes in garments, I love transmitting my energy through the prints I create. My designs are perfect for people who want to feel empowered, and that of course don’t want to go unnoticed.

I hope that many people see themselves reflected in my designs, let them get the energy I put behind each of them, and of course invite them to want to be part of the LENIFRO family.

What comes easiest for you as a designer? What is hardest?

The easiest is my imagination to create every piece. The hardest is the pressure I put in to my self to create a perfect piece, as I’m really perfectionist person.

Where do you find inspiration for new collections? How important is color to your design process?

I do find inspiration everywhere, but music is my biggest inspiration. Color is very important in each collection, I usually work with bright colors and funny prints.

Readers would love to hear about the collection you will be showing on the runway at New York Fashion Week FW24 in February? Inspiration, fabrics, palette, etc.?

Called RETRO DREAMER, it emerged from my love and inspiration by Dream (my son ) and the 80’s era. This collection created with polyester made from recycled plastic bottles. It is divided in 5 blocks. transmitting through the prints, 5 inspirational elements from my youth.

As a good 80’s fashion lover, the XL shoulder pads and volumes are evident in every piece this season, offering a fresh, fun and colorful collection. There will be accessories matching all the collection print, and faux leather in some of the pieces.

Do you have a favorite look in this collection?

Yes I do, a pink suit, with big shoulders and baggy fit, inspired in Bon Jovi song ‘It’s my life’ as you will see the Jovi silhouette and the word NOW, transmitting the message : ‘It’s my life, its now or never. I ain’t gonna live forever ’

Where can readers purchase your designs?

What's next for you as a designer and your brand?
