OHM is a womenswear designer label by Dayoung Jang, a London College of Fashion Womenswear graduate. OHM released 23 A/W 'THE NEW SHELL (act.1 of HYPER BOBUSANG) in 2022 MODA PORTUGAL fashion design competition and was nominated as UK winner; the very first journey of the brand OHM.
Brand OHM is still developing a collection based on two main slogans: "Exploration of New Sustainability" and "Creation of Brand Signature Details and Garment Construction aiming for BEAUTI-FUNCTIONALITY."
OHM creates an experimental but practical construction and detailing through juxtaposition of feminine materials, basic women’s wear archetypes and sports/functional construction references. Experimental draping, fabrication and unconventional detailing aim for "the garment that makes women beautiful, practical, and comfortable even when they sweat."
Inspired by everyday situations and topics that everyone can relate to, OHM builds its own unique design world by presenting a playful colour palette, material mixing and fun experimentation in detail.
Interview -
Please share a bit about your journey to embrace fashion design as a career.
Hi, I’m Dayoung Jang from South Korea. I’m a designer of my own womenswear label - ‘OHM’. I graduated London College of Fashion Womenswear in 2023. I presented 23 A/W 'THE NEW SHELL (act.1 of HYPER BOBUSANG) in 2022 MODA PORTUGAL fashion design competition and was nominated as UK winner. It was the beginning of the brand OHM.
After that, I released 24 S/S BEAUTIFUL SWEAT (act.2 of HYPER BOBUSANG) in 2023 as my BA graduate collection in London. It lead me to be nominated as Top 3 Beginner Finalists in K-Fashion audition, Semi-finalists in REDRESS design award, whole collection featured in Netflix series ‘Geek Girl’ and etc.
Based on two previous collection I’ve designed, I keep building my design aesthetic and identity - functionality and transformability maximizing sustainability and femininity- as an designer of OHM.
How did you learn your skills?
I studied FDT (Fashion Design and Technology) Womenswear at the London College of Fashion. I learned lots of design methods for developing a unique aesthetic and identity as well as knowledges and techniques for design, pattern cutting and garment making. I gained practical experience from work experience with amazing and well-known brands: Hunter, WED Studio, Johanna Parv, Ted Baker Sport and etc.
All fashion design competition I entered also gave me amazing opportunities to explore creative things and take a risk which makes me broaden my vision as an designer.

Who are you as a designer? Aesthetic? Customer? Brand?
As I said before, I keep exploring and developing collections based on two main slogans: "Exploration of New Sustainability" and "Creation of Brand Signature Details and Garment Construction aiming for BEAUTI-FUNCTIONALITY." I love creating an experimental but practical construction and detailing it through juxtaposition of feminine materials, basic women’s wear archetypes and sports/functional construction references. What comes easiest for you as a designer? What is hardest?
I would say ‘development and realization’ is the favorite and easiest part for me. It is like play for me that I can change humorous memories, impossible imagination and memorable observation into the new detailing, construction and texture.
The hardest part is all about the ‘Balance’. From the silhouette to tiny finishing of the garments, I always fight and struggle to find the best combination for the well-balanced design outcome. When juggling in the deep forest of balance it stops me stepping forward to the idea-bursting moment, however, it helps me refining and revising my design process eventually.
Where do you find inspiration for new collections? How important is color to your design process?
I am always Inspired by everyday situations and topics that everyone can relate to. I reinterpret the daily observations of what I see around me and my memories with a sense of humor. I build my own unique design world by presenting a playful color palette, mixing materials and fun experimentation with details.
In terms of color palette, I don’t think dark and black-ish colors are the best tool for me to realize my playful concepts and my image of women who could be the customers of ohm. That’s why I always make the color palette of my collection fun and vivid.

Readers would love to know more about the collection you be showing at Vancouver Fashion Week.
OHM's SS25 collection -"Oh, Ms. sweaty encumbrance, you made my day!" - is a versatile but beautiful way of interpreting the ideas of multiple layers of backpacks and luggage on the packed train, sweat from unexpected heat waves and rainy seasons, and annoyingly wrinkled and stuck clothes soaked by sweat and shower.'
OHM created this Feminine Sporty collection by re-interpreting the distorted shape and semi-transparent texture of wet clothes due to sweat and unexpected rain into drape and gather technique with using performance jersey and sheer stretch, and continues by re-evaluating randomly overlapped and messy crumpled clothes and backpack in terms of 'New sustainability'. based on the wearers' practical needs, the inspiration from everyday life has been developed: the signature one-piece pattern cutting, technical cutting line and garment construction with transformability (modularity).
'Beauti-functionality', one of the most important brand value of OHM, has been highlighted in playful way by applying pop color palettes on the functional parts of the collection pieces such as trim, stretch panels and etc.
Do you have a favorite look in this collection?
I love all of the looks of my SS25 collection. If I have to pick one ‘favorite’, however, I want to highlight some signature construction and detailing such as the ruching supported by sporty trims and one-piece fabric draping.
Where can readers purchase your designs?
If anyone wants to purchase a piece from my collections (including all previous seasons) or even have items custom made, please send me DM to my Instagram account @ohm_always_works. I’m happy to hear from you! Again, I am open to collaboration and custom work as well!
What's next for you as a designer and your brand?
I am planning to build my brand identity and let my collections speak more about ‘Beauti-functionality’ that my design and identity based on.
