A River Runs Through Me
by Marilyn R. Wilson

A river runs through me
it is never the same.
As the sky slowly brightens,
the sun might shines intensely,
or diffuse light might struggle
through dark gray clouds,
I awaken and pause.

What does the river flow
feel like today?
Is it roiling and angry,
rushing joyfully forward,
or solemnly quiet,
brushing my soul gently?

Days of conflict and chaos,
worry and darkness,
dark news with no hope,
abandonment and lose,
brings a river chaotic
my soul fight to survive

Times of celebration and success,
love found and connections grown,
family gathered and meals shared,
uplifting news that ,
Offers a joyfully dancing river,
my heart beats in perfect rhythm.

Quiet moments are treasured.
A serene energy takes over,
inner voices grow quiet
healing mantras are embraced.
bringing a river flowing slowly
creating a soul deep .

Roiling, chaotic
Angry and loud.
Joyfully rushing,
Sparkling in the sun.
Solemnly flowing
quiet and at peace.

Every day, every hour
very beat of my heart.
Energizing and cleansing,
disturbing and healing,
a rhythm in the background,
like the beat of my heart.

A river runs through me.
