And Yet, Here I Am
by Marilyn R Wilson

The tides have been ebbing
Dark ages rise again
Our rights disappearing
And yet, here I am.

Women dying from miscarrying
No doctor if unwed.
Voting rights behind challenged
And yet, here I am.

Elder support disappearing
Men and women both damned
Elders' wisdom discounted
And yet, here I am.

Tyranny descends upon us
Democracy being slammed
Speaking out being penalized
And yet here I am.

My voice cannot be muted
Nor honorable women and men
A penalty might rain on us
And yet, here I am.

Freedom and liberty in the balance
Risky speaking out with voice and pen
Forces work to mute my challenge
And yet, here I am.

And yet, here I am......
