Review -
Reading this book was a step out of the norm for me, but I am so glad I took a leap of faith. I have always admired Kamala Harris for her focus on improving the lives of real people who are struggling. While normally I would look for a memoir, there was something that drew me in about following those 107 pressured filled days between learning she would be the Democratic candidate, through to the election results. I finally began to understand how things unfolded.
Her account is written clearly and intelligently. She shares fairly and clearly both her admiration for Biden's work as president and his lack of support for her at times and where it happened. She speaks of the challenges of dealing with the dirty campaign of lies that have become far too common in today's politics, and the physical and emotional cost of being on the campaign trail day in and day out for 107 straight days.
Along the way Harris sets forth what her platform would have been had she been elected. It was led by her love of her country and her strong desire to create a better life for every citizen, not just the rich. I found myself dreaming of what could have been. I hope we can return to this vision one day.
A great read that really opened my eyes on what happens behind the scenes during a political campaign, and how small words and actions are twisted into enormous mistruths to create controversy and affect voting.

Bio -
Kamala D. Harris served as the forty-ninth vice president of the United States from 2021 to 2025—the first woman in American history to hold the office. She began her career in the Alameda County district attorney’s office before being elected district attorney of San Francisco, where her Back on Track program became a national model for reducing recidivism. As California’s attorney general, Harris prosecuted transnational gangs, big banks that defrauded homeowners, and for-profit colleges that targeted students and veterans. She defended the Affordable Care Act, fought for marriage equality, and pioneered the nation’s first open-data initiative in the criminal justice system.
In the United States Senate, Harris fought for civil, immigrant, and voting rights, and gained national recognition for her incisive questioning in committee hearings. As vice president, she led efforts to strengthen global alliances and address child poverty, gun violence, student debt, maternal health, economic opportunity, and reproductive rights—casting more tiebreaking votes than any vice president in history, including for pandemic relief and the largest climate investment ever. Throughout her career, she has always fought for the only client she has ever had: the people.
